Bi-Fold Doors

Enhancing both your home and your lifestyle, Woodland Joinery know how to create the perfect setting to bring the outdoors closer.

Bi-fold doors, also known as folding-sliding doors, slide open panels together. Our bifold doors are practical yet elegantly crafted.  Positioned either inside or outside, these doors are authentically styled in traditional or contemporary designs.

Even in compact spaces, this style can help create the illusion of more space. This is because the slim frames and large expanses of glass draw the eye ahead of the room end and into the outdoor space. A bespoke internal bifold door with glass will improve your home.

Bespoke doors with high standards

At Woodland Joinery, we design and craft your bespoke timber bifold doors. Made to measure, we construct our custom-built solid oak bifold doors to the same exacting standards as our windows.

With timber guaranteed for decades, our door sets include technical innovations. We offer a wide range of high quality external and internal bi-folding doors that complement your home.

Our bespoke service means clients can design their dream set of wooden bifold doors. These are tailored to your requirements, making each product unique.

Our beautiful timber bifold doors are factory glazed with factory applied paint finishes. This ensures a long life and low maintenance.

It’s all In the detail

To give our clients peace of mind, we focus on the detail. Architect designed; our bespoke bi-folding doors are available in different styles to complement modern properties in the UK. Our doors can also add individuality to a period home. The door sets feature clean, understated lines. These are finished with crisp modern ironmongery. They can act as a room divider. You can choose an etched or frosted glass effect to provide privacy. This includes an option to have your house number reversed out. White primed and providing natural light, the extensive range of door designs can open the whole side or back of your home. This is when the doors are fully open and folded back.

Every style of timber door is available hand-finished in hundreds of traditional shades and timber stains. This includes RAL colours and shades that complement the Farrow & Ball and Fired Earth paint ranges, and Osmo wood finish. We only use paint products that are tried, tested and when applied, guarantee longevity. Our bifold doors, such as top hung styles, are maintenance free. We also offer the option to vary the colour on the inside of the door. This is so that it matches your internal décor. All our external and internal bi-folding doors come with high specification glazing fitted as standard. Double glazing is available. Our paint and protection finish ensure a long life with very low maintenance, for peace of mind.

Frequently asked questions

What Is The Standard Size For A Bifold Door?

External bifold doors are wider than internal bifold doors, with not much difference in height. External bifold door standard sizes are usually 2090mm or 2100mm tall. This is only slighter taller than an internal design. Usually, the height of an internal bifold door is around 6.8 feet, or 2078mm. The width is generally more variable. This could be on average, between 700mm and 1000mm wide. A bespoke option, however, will look incredible and will work faultlessly. We develop the door to fit your home.

Which Is Better – Bifold Or Sliding Doors?

If you want to be able to fully open the doors to give the continuous transition from inside to outside, opt for bi-fold doors. This style brings the outside inside. If it is all about the view, then a sliding door might be the best choice. This design reduces the amount of frame and maximises glass sizes, making the most of the view. Sliding doors are the best for space-saving because they work within their existing framework. Bifolds are more versatile and often, more aesthetically pleasing.

Do Bifold Doors Leak?

Solid bi-fold doors do not leak if you take simple steps to protect against this and lengthen the life.

  • Remove debris that collects in the running tracks
  • Check for blockages in the drainage channel
  • Use warm water and mild detergent to wipe the frames
  • If you meet with resistance, do not force it
How Long Do Bifold Doors Last?

Well maintained high-quality bifold doors last for many years. Woodland Joinery offer an eight-year guarantee as standard. This includes the sealed double-glazed units, paint work, craftsmanship and ironmongery.

Are Bifold Doors Safe?

Bifold doors are safe. Occasionally, thieves target conservatories. This is because they are often less secure than the rest of the house. The bifold doors probably have no impact on their decision. Bi-fold doors are commonly harder to break into than typical French doors or sliding doors. At Woodland Joinery, we assure security with a strong insurance rated locking mechanism. This features robust bolts, night laches, deadlocks and five lever anti snap euro cylinder sash locks.

Are Bifold Doors Energy Efficient?

If installed correctly and are of a good build quality, bifold doors are energy efficient. They are not as draughty as conventional patio doors. Bi-fold doors meet higher levels of thermal retention and energy efficiency. This means you will increase the energy productivity in your home, saving yourself money.
